Higgins Powersports is proud to be working with Jeff Wood for the 2009 season. For anyone who doesn't follow road racing he is a eleven time national champion.

8th Annual Summit Point Cyclefest
Michelin Pro Series Qualifying
Summit Point, WV
May 25, 2009

Jeff Wood, the four time defending champion in the Michelin Pro Series SuperBike, reminded everyone why he has held the title for so long. Wood started from the pole on the Team Higgins Powersports/Roadracingworld.com Kawasaki and from the first lap to the last lap, Wood was consistently fastest and showed no sign of letting up as he was the only rider to dip into the 1:13 range. Wood finished the 10 lap final 3.88 seconds quicker than Jason Palmer’s Shenandoah Honda sponsored R-6. Palmer kept contact with Wood but was never able to challenge for the lead after the start. Jonathan Lawrence was able to bring his Sprinklers Sales & Service Yamaha in third.

In the Factory Pro SportBike race, Jason Palmer took the holeshot on the Shenandoah R-6 but that was the last of the lead he would have as Jeff Wood continued his juggernaut towards his second win of the day. Wood once again flirted with track record pace on the Higgins Powersports Kawasaki, coming up just .5 seconds short at 1:13.530. Palmer continued to put the pressure on Wood but was never able to get close enough to put himself in front.

Wood wins four on way to new track record at Summit Point

Team Higgins Powersports / Roadracingworld.com had a great weekend of competition with the Championship Cup Series (CCS) at Summit Point Raceway over the July 4th holiday. Rider Jeff Wood was able to take four wins during the weekend and set a new CCS club 600cc track record with a 1:12.986 lap time during Sunday’s Middleweight Supersport race. Three of the wins came aboard Wood’s 2009 Kawasaki ZX-6’s while one win was upon their 2008 Suzuki GSX-R 1000. The weekend provided valuable track time for Wood to help set up the GSX-R for upcoming AMA Pro Racing competition at Virginia International Raceway and New Jersey Motorsports Park along with $4,000 in winnings thanks to Kawasaki’s outstanding contingency program.

Wood next takes to the track July 18th in Loudon NH with the Loudon Roadracing Series (LRRS) before returning once again to Summit Point Raceway for the WERA National August 1st.

Jeff Wood "This was a great weekend for us, we made some excellent progress on the GSX-R 1000 getting it ready for some big races, and made some Kawasaki money at the same time" said Wood. "We have won 17 races in a row on the new 600, so I am really starting to feel at home on it. It took a little while to get it dialed in, but we are finally turning better laps than we did on last year‘s bike"
